When Your Sibling is a Democrat...
..."Political" Discussions Can Be VERY Awkward
On Christmas, we didn't talk much about politics. Knowing my parents registered Republican for the first time in...well, the first time ever. They married young...my mom is 80 & my dad will be 86 in a couple of weeks...anyway, I grew up in a Democrat household. That said, even my Dem brother voted for President Trump in 2020, so naturally, I assumed he had smartened up. Or, not...
Christmas dinner was the 4 of us – mom, dad, Richard/Rick (my brother), and me, + my moms' younger brother, Uncle Bruce. It was most likely me who brought up the mRNA-jab. I told this story about my son:
As he entered a hospital to do his job, the girl at the front desk asked him for his “papers” to which he responded, "Are we in Nazi, Germany?" (God, I love that kid!) My son (Adam, 35), who was (like my brother, my parents, and everyone on his father’s side of the family), a registered Dem, told me back in Nov. 2019 [in a whisper]; "...mom. I think I'm a Republican."
How adorable is that? I cried...
Anyway, my brother says he carries his "papers" with him, and this “…isn't Nazi, Germany, sis.” (Whatever, bruh…the Jews had to carry their papers with them at all times.) He went on to state he’s; double "Vx'd" and he's had 2 boosters. He added that if Rite-Aid told him he had to get a "vaccine-booster" every week, he'd do it. Not only would do it, but he would run to the pharmacy, and if he had to wait all day, and spend the night in a line he would.
I made an attempt to launch into the fucking fact, that the “vaccine” isn’t. What it is, is an mRNA shot that… He cut me off stating he didn’t care, he didn’t want to talk about the “vaccine” or, Dr. FauXi, and he hadn’t read anything about it on Facebook. Yes, my brother gets his “news” off of fucking Facebook. I looked at him and shook my head…
In an attempt to regain my self-control, I launched into the “mask mandate” that was re-issued a couple of weeks ago stating that their efficacy, isn’t and that GovGav Grewsom is just drunk on power. I continued, in an attempt to make him understand that Grewsom cares about no one and nothing…just look at our drought situation. Gav is such a douche that water is held before it’s sent to the Pacific Ocean to protect the “Delta Smelt.” My brother (Rick) started in on how the Smelt is a smelly fish that you don’t eat, but they determine how safe the water is. I said, “well don’t you sound like a left-wing tool,” to which he replied, “…yes, sis. I’m a registered Democrat and I believe the Delta Smelt should be preserved.” Needless to say, I was speechless.
There was an awkward silence, he left shortly after that without saying anything to anyone. The past two nights I haven’t slept more than 4 hours combined. Not because I was sorry that I had (obviously) offended my brother, but because I was seriously struck, like a punch in the gut, at his abject stupidity. Since he caught me off-guard, I was not my usual quick-witted self.
So, I felt compelled to write…
If I could go back, I would say something to him and it would go like this:
The effects of the drought are and have been, devastating on California and Californians. If there’s no water for the crops, the CA Ag business will go belly up, and all of the fertile lands with all the fantastic crops will die. No subsidies will bring them back, no water means no water. Since there will no longer be crops, millions of people will be out of work, including the shitton of illegals that Rick, no doubt, believes have a right to be here for low-wage work so they can feed their families. Crops, dead. Soon to follow are the workers, also dead. Then, the people under our massive Welfare system won’t have food to buy, so everyday Californians…dead.
When everything and everyone in Cali is dead and gone, then exactly what purpose did these harbingers of aquatic health serve, Richard?
